Yellowed Headlights Become Clear Again

Restore Headlights Instead of Replacing Them

The cost of replacing a pair of headlights can exceed hundreds of euros, while 250 ml of Headlight Polish 1 can restore dozens of headlights for a fraction of that investment

Specifically Formulated for Acrylic PMMA

Unlike a generic paint compound that can overheat or deform the plastic, HLP1 was developed to work safely and effectively on the acrylic used in modern headlights.

No Silicone for Perfect Sealant Adhesion

The silicone-free formula ensures the headlight surface is free from oily residue after polishing, allowing any protective sealant to adhere correctly without peeling off over time.

Headlight Polish 1 HLP1 – heavy-cut polish for acrylic headlights

Silicone-free, heavy-cut machine polish, designed to restore severely yellowed and opaque PMMA acrylic headlights. Removes sanding marks from P1000 grit. For a final finish and protection, always complete with Headlight Polish 2, which includes integrated carnauba wax.

How to Use

Step 1

Clean the headlight and use masking tape to protect the edges of the hood, fenders, grille, and bumper

Step 2

If the headlight is very yellowed, sand with P1000 grit, then P2000, and finally P4000 until you obtain a uniformly sanded surface.

Step 3

Apply HLP1 with a rotary polisher and a cutting pad in cross-hatch movements at medium speed and pressure.

Step 4

Finish with Headlight Polish 2 and Thermo Pad for high gloss and protection, without exceeding 40–45 °C on the surface.

FAQs

It depends on the condition of the headlights. If they are only slightly cloudy or have superficial scratches, you can proceed directly to polishing with HLP1. If they are very yellowed or severely opaque, prior sanding with P1000, P2000, and P4000 grit is necessary to remove the degraded layer before polishing.

You can use HLP1 alone to remove scratches and haziness, but the end result without protection will quickly degrade with UV exposure. Headlight Polish 2 not only provides a high gloss finish but also contains carnauba wax that protects the restored surface. Without this second step, the work will not last as long.

The vast majority of car headlights manufactured since the 2000s are made of PMMA acrylic. Glass headlights are rare and are mainly found in classic or very old vehicles. If your headlights have yellowed or become cloudy over time, they are almost certainly acrylic and compatible with HLP1.
