Most generic foam pads absorb polish too quickly, heat up easily, and lose effectiveness halfway through the panel. The SDO Orange solves these three problems with Lake Country's CCS technology and a construction designed specifically for orbital polishers.
Key Features of the SDO Orange
Engineered European Foam with CCS
The CCS dimples on the pad's surface act as reservoirs that retain polish and release it gradually. This extends working time per application and reduces product waste on each panel.
70° Beveled Edge Anti-Rolling
The edge angle prevents the pad from rolling on panel transitions and contours. It keeps the contact surface flat and stable, which reduces holograms and micro-marring in hard-to-work areas.
Central Ventilation Channel
The hole in the center of the pad creates a channel that dissipates heat accumulated during polishing. Cooler surfaces mean less risk of hazing the clear coat and a pad that lasts longer without losing its shape.
SDO Construction Without Dual Layer
The SDO line uses the same foam as Lake Country's HDO (Heavy Duty Orbital) line without the two-layer construction. This results in a thinner pad (22 mm vs. 25 mm for HDO), with a more direct response to the orbital's movement and a more affordable price.
How CCS Technology Works
CCS stands for Collapsed Cell Structure. It is Lake Country's patented system consisting of dozens of small, partially closed dimples on the pad's face. These dimples do not absorb liquid, unlike the rest of the open-cell foam. When you apply polish, the product distributes across the surface, and excess accumulates in these pockets instead of being absorbed into the foam's interior.
As you work, the CCS pockets gradually release polish, keeping the surface lubricated for longer. This has three practical effects: it extends working time before you need to reapply product, it reduces friction between the pad and the clear coat (less heat, fewer marks), and it eliminates the skipping that occurs when two smooth surfaces meet without sufficient lubrication.
This technology has been tested and approved by automotive manufacturers (OEMs) and works on all types of clear coat, from softer traditional clear coats to harder scratch-resistant clear coats used by brands like Mercedes-Benz.
How to Apply
Apply a small amount of polish to the pad, spread it at low speed, and work in 60 x 60 cm sections with straight, overlapping passes.
