The First Step Before the Final Result

Firm Foam that Maximizes the Compound

The higher density of the blue foam transfers more energy from the compound to the surface, removing deep defects in fewer passes than a medium density pad that absorbs some of that effort.

70° Edge for Controlled Cutting on Curves

The bevel keeps the pad flat against the panel even in contoured areas, preventing the skipping and edge marks that a flat pad creates when working close to edges with firm pressure

Central Ventilation that Reduces the Risk of Overheating

The center hole releases heat build-up during heavy cutting, keeping the clear coat surface cooler and reducing the risk of burns or hazing that are common in long correction sessions

Lake Country SDO Blue – heavy cutting pad for orbital

Lake Country's SDO (Standard Duty Orbital) line of high-density firm foam pad. 70° beveled edge for stable contact on flat and curved surfaces. Vented center hole for heat dissipation. Compatible with all DA polishers with a vented backing plate. Ideal for heavy cut compounds and first-step corrections. Available in various sizes.

How to Use

Step 1

Centre the pad on the orbital plate and apply a circular line of polish to the foam.

Step 2

Spread at low speed in a 60 x 60 cm area before increasing to working speed.

Step 3

Work in straight, slow passes with light to medium pressure until the polish becomes clear

Step 4

Remove residue with a soft microfibre cloth and check the result under inspection light

FAQs

When orange foam doesn't remove the defect in a few passes. Deep scratches, severe oxidation, pronounced swirls in hard clear coats, and sanding marks are scenarios where the firm density of the blue foam makes a difference. If your work is mainly maintenance and light swirls, the orange foam is sufficient.

It is likely to leave some slight hazing or micro-marring, especially on dark or soft clear coats. The blue is a first step pad and the end result depends on the refinement you do next with the orange or black SDO and a finer polish.

The blue SDO is compatible with heavy-cut compounds from any brand. The firm foam is designed to maximise the transfer of energy from the compound to the surface, so it works well with any abrasive product.
