How to Use

Step 1

Centre the pad on the long throw orbital and apply drops of compound to the microfiber

Step 2

Distribute at low speed in cross motions to impregnate the fibers before working

Step 3

Increase to medium-high speed with firm pressure until the defect is gone

Step 4

Clean the fibers with a brush or compressed air between panels and refine with HDO OSP or orange HDO

HDO construction adds the double foam layer that eliminates collapse and lateral movement, the beveled profile that prevents roll-off, and the central chamber that dissipates heat. In practice, the HDO version maintains stability and performance in long sessions with powerful orbital sanders, where the standard version might vibrate or lose contact because it wasn't designed for that level of demand.

It works, but the double layer and the weight of the HDO construction were calibrated for the long throw of 15 and 21mm. On a short-throw orbital, the pad is oversized for the machine's movement, and you won't get to take advantage of what makes it different. For short throw, the standard Microfiber Cutting or the blue SDO are better suited to the equipment's behaviour.

When you want heavy cutting with a cleaner, more predictable finish. The Purple Foamed Wool offers more aggressive cutting and is the choice for P1500 sanding marks and very deep defects. The HDO Microfiber Cutting corrects heavy defects with fewer marring, which reduces the refinement work in the next step. If you value total speed in the first step, choose Wool. If you prefer to balance cutting with ease of finishing, HDO Microfiber is the best option.
